Who am I ?
I was born sometime in the early 1980s in the state of Orissa, in India. My parents are bankers and I grew up in 6 states, studying at 8 different schools. This sparked in me a love for travel, an enthusiasm to meet different kinds of people and to experience different cultures. I wanted to become a pilot but fate had something different in store for me and I ended up as a designer
. The love for the skies is still there, I enjoy paragliding and some day I hope to buy a private jet. Currently I stay in Pune and provide user experience consulting services.
Current work status
I run a one-man design consulting service and work with clients to capture user requirements and then build web applications.I started this free-lance consulting to sharpen my entrepreneurial streak. Coming from a family of bankers, I have always been interested in how businesses work. I am all for the ‘big dreams, big money, big risks’ idea and want to start my own product company some day. However, I do admire big companies that have managed to retain their ability to innovate.
The consulting work has given me valuable 1st hand insights into how to run a business. When you run a small set-up, everything matters: right from project planning, proper estimation, budgeting to smaller details such as ‘how you talk to the clients, how you present deliverables and manage expectations’.

Previous Work experience
I’ve had a dual ladder career path within interaction design and product management. I have a background in mobile interaction design, enterprise applications and web applications design for financial products.I have an experience of over 6 years in design, firstly as a design student at IIT Guwahati, and then as a part of various big and small design teams in the industry.
Most recently, I was working as a Sr. User Experience Design consultant for Qualcomm. I played the role of a product manager and led a multidisciplinary team working on a Rural Mobile Commerce product. Amongst other things, one of my main responsibilities was setting up a team and defining processes.
Prior to that I worked as an Interaction designer at Capgemini and was part of a specialized team working on Rich Internet Applications for financial services. We serviced clients such as HSBC and Morgan Stanley. I have also worked in HCI research, at the University of Stuttgart in Germany where I held a post as a Research Assistant and contributed to the ‘Indoor Navigation Systems for blind users’ project. Additionally, I had short stints as a design-developer at Grandmother India (a premier web design agency) and as a 3-D modeller at Padmalaya Telefilms.

Strengths
Having worked with a variety of companies and while running my own consultancy, I have formed an experience of working across stages of the product life-cycle. This has inculcated in me a strong hands-on approach with a skill set that ranges from conceptualization and planning (ideation, product-strategy, user-research) to actual implementation and testing (front end-coding, usability, UI reviews).
As a designer, product manager and entrepreneur I have learned to thrive in unstructured environments and handle ambiguity. I work towards restoring order by quickly visualizing ideas, thereby providing a tangible medium where all stakeholders can come together and achieve a consensus very early on. Also I have experience of managing multiple projects and prioritizing work to meet deadlines.
